Guess who I met yesterday! Full analysis on Saturday!
“Yes, I have tricks in my pocket, I have things up my sleeve. But I am the opposite of a stage magician. He gives you illusion that has the appearance of truth. I give you truth in the pleasant disguise of illusion”I love this play
I really don’t understand why some people don’t like this play. It’s one of the most beautiful plays I have ever read or seen. The characters are simply remarkable, and I have some things in common with Laura- not identically similar, but figuratively, yes, we are practically the same person. I’m just much more talkative and not afraid to make a fool of myself.
NEW YORK CITY AAAAHHHHHH!
Well, tomorrow evening, I will be traveling to New York City. My handbell group is touring in the beautiful NYC. Along with performing, we will be seeing the sights of the city. I will also be attending the Wednesday matinee of Newsies and the Friday evening performance of Wicked. I will have lots of pictures of the city, as well as thoughts on my own performance and the performances of the broadway casts. So, if I suddenly go absent for a few days, you guys know why.
TOP 5: MUSICAL THEATRE MADNESS! (Newsies edition)
5. Seize the Day
At number 4 in the countdown is… Once For All.
The harmonies in Once For All are definitely some of my favorite that are in the show. I get the goosebumps whenever I listen to this song- particularly at the end when the set starts to move up stage. I can really tell that this production is well loved by those involved. There’s lots of heart just in this video alone. I’m so excited to see these guys live on Wednesday! :)
Once For All from the broadway production of Newsies performed by Corey Cott, Ben Fankhauser, Kara Lindsay, and cast.

At number 5… Seize the Day
This is definitely the melody that you walk out of Newsies humming to yourself… or to all those standing around you. It’s an empowering song that makes you want to join with the news boys and join the strike- dancing AND singing along like crazy people! The vocals are amazing, and the choreography- THE CHOREOGRAPHY!!! Tony award wining awesomeness. I’m so exited to see this song performed live on Wednesday at the matinee.
Seize the Day from Newsies performed by Jeremy Jordan, Ben Fankhauser, Kara Lindsay, and cast.
"You’re the only friend I’ve ever had."
"And I’ve had so many friends. But only one—that mattered."
Really? I don’t think the composers play piccolo
Ewww I know how that feels. That’s rough haha
TOP 5: MUSICAL THEATRE MADNESS (The Phantom of the Opera edition)
5. Think of Me
4. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
3. The Music of the Night
2. Down Once More/ The Final Lair
AAAANNNNNNDDD COMING IN AT NUMBER 1 IS… Wandering Child.
Ok, some may be extremely surprised by this being my favorite song from the musical, but I absolutely love it!!!!!! It’s definitely not the typical “favorite phantom song” answer. The melody of Angel of Music is breathtaking… the scene concept is superb (setting being Christine’s father’s grave)… and the LYRICS are amazing. Like seriously, people, look up the lyrics to stage version of this song. All three are singing different things that will chill you to the bone. This being my dream cast, I also have to mention the genius that is the three of them together. Mr. Karimloo, Miss Boggess, and Mr. Fraser totally outshine other performances I’ve seen of Wandering Child. So much emotion, passion, and everything else you would want. Yup. I love this song. Everything about it. End. Of. Story.
Oh, and can we mention the Phantom’s hat? I mean look at it! The Phantom’s got some style haha
So it goes, heaven knows
Life has dealt me some terrible blows.
Pit Orchestra! YA!!!!!!!!
TARZAN pit orchestra rehearsal went really well today- got a lot done. We reviewed the Entr’acte and Trashin the Camp. We also sight read Who Better Than Me, Who Better Than Me (Reprise), and Two Worlds! I finally got to play my awesome flute solos in Two Worlds for everybody. YAY!!!!!!!
“Why does the phantom wear a mask?”
Tired babies. Primrose on the left hugging the corner of the pouch, and Scarlette on the right hiding from the camera.

5. Think of Me 4. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again 3. Music of the Night
Coming in at number 2 is… The Final Lair/Track Down This Murderer
This is simply one of the best scenes to any musical I can think of. Pretty much the definition of a climatic moment. The music is also so powerful! All of the different melodies intertwined together, it also has truly awesome lyrics. They’re really kind of in-your-face lyrics. They don’t hide or “beat around the bush” at all. And come on… the kiss… the heartbreaking goodbye (or so we thought)… need I say more.
The Final Lair/Track Down This Murderer from The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary at The Royal Albert Hall performed by Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Boggess, Hadley Fraser, and company.
